Open Source RSSOFX Server

rssofx_oss.pngAs part of the RSSOFX effort, we will be providing an open source RSSOFX Server. This open source RSSOFX server will be available for anyone to download and use (licenese:GPL). In addition, the RSSOFX server will be available as a VMWare Appliance. This means that deploying this server can be as simple as downloading a file, unzipping it, and running it (no application server to setup, no database to install, no web server to configure, etc).

Why are we doing this? We feel strongly that there are several key things that foster innovation and adoption:

  • simple protocols
  • simple APIs (programming interfaces)
  • readily available, open source implementations
  • building on established standards

Look for the initial release of this server in December 2007.
